Entry requirements

Citizens of most European countries and the USA do not require a visa to enter the Czech Republic. Despite that it is advisable to check whether you will need a visa at least fourteen days before your departure. The Czech embassy in your country will provide you with all the information you require and issue with a transit or entry visa if needed. Residence permits and visas are also issued by the Immigration Office in Prague (going under the unnecessarily complicated Czech name of (Oblastní ředitelství cizinecké a pohraniční policie). Foreign visitors requiring visas must register with the local Immigration Office within three workdays of entering the country (in Prague at the address Olšanská 2, Prague 3 - in person only). Individual accommodation facilities have foreign visitors registered automatically.

* Since the Czech Republic´s entry in the European Union and the European Economic Area, citizens of the Czech Republic have "the right to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States" (Article 18 of the Treaty establishing the European Community). Czech citizens may enter and reside in EU countries without any special limitations, on the basis of a valid travel document ("travel documents" include also identity cards issued after 1993). The right to reside in any EU country can be restricted only for reasons of public order, security or public health.
