Public transport in Prague
The
public transport tariff is valid on all Metro, tram and bus routes as
well as on the funicular in the capital of Prague. There is a time and
change tariff except for the 15-minutes ticket which is a no-change
one. The period of validity starts at the moment of punching or
stamping the ticket and expires after the elapse of an appropriate time
interval. The passenger is obliged to punch or stamp the single ticket
or the the short-time season ticket properly, immediately after
entering the vehicle or the Metro area for the first time.
The ticket is to be inserted in the stamping machine in the arrow
direction (arrow upwards). A false punched or stamped ticket is
invalid. When changing the routes, the ticket is not to be stamped
again. The validity time also includes the interruption time for
change. If the ticket validity expires during the ride, the passenger
is obligedto punch or stamp another ticket.
Transfer tickets
Tickets for two fare zones can be used 60 minutes from validation. On
working days from 08.00 PM to 05.00 AM and on Saturdays and Sundays
round the clock such tickets can be used 90 minutes from validation.
Non-transfer tickets
apply to trams and buses 15 minutes allowing no change. On the Metro
such tickets are valid for the distance of 4 stations from the station
of validation (not including the station of validation) allowing to
change between the lines A,B,C, but no longer than 30 minutes. These
tickets do not apply to night routes and funicular railway.
Tourist tickets
are sold for one to five days in a row; the first day of validity is to be marked on the ticket.
Long-time passes
are sold at some underground stations and at the central public
transport office in the street Na bojisti, Praha 2 (metro line C,
I.P.Pavlova station). A photo is needed for buying this pass. The pass
is not to be marked in the transportation means; it is valid for an
unlimited number of rides in a given period (plus 1 day before and 3
days after) in the underground, trams, buses, funicular and on the
railway between all Prague stations and some stops close to the city.
However, you cannot use the EC and IC trains.

Transfer tickets
Tickets
for two fare zones can be used 75 minutes from validation. On working
days from 08.00 PM to 05.00 AM and on Saturdays and Sundays round the
clock such tickets can be used 90 minutes from validation.
Non-transfer tickets
apply
to trams and buses 20 minutes allowing no change. On the Metro such
tickets are valid for the distance of 5 stations from the station of
validation (not including the station of validation) allowing to change
between the lines A,B,C, but no longer than 30 minutes. These tickets
do not apply to night routes and funicular railway.
Additional ticket sale from bus drivers

Such ticket sale is available only in the zone P, validity period is identical to that of transfer tickets.
